About

"As a kid, Marybeth Davis created stories out of cotton balls in her bathroom sink. Having since wrestled through the throes of religion-focused OCD and come out the other side with her faith intact, she now writes intense stories that take her audience back to their “reading under the covers” days as kids, but with the complex biblical truths they’re ready for as young adults.
When she’s trying to avoid her manuscript like the procrastinator she is, you can find Marybeth pranking her friends, talking to her cat in Japanese, and reading found family fanfiction until two in the morning."

What can you expect from my writing?
-
Fantasy stories for teens and young adults written from a Christian worldview
-
Books with thrilling plotlines that take you back to your “reading-under-the-covers” days as a kid
-
Emotionally impactful stories that take an honest look at both the hardships and hopes of life–ones that know that the real truth of God can hold up in the face of reality.
-
Stories that speak the truth as an outpouring of an exciting fantasy story rather than as a “Trojan horse” of sorts.
-
Stories with characters that feel like real people, whose struggles actually mean something and whose emotions you feel, too.
-
Unique worlds that feel fresh and fascinating, but that you don’t need a master’s degree to comprehend
-
Stories that showcase the power of relationships and how suffering can be redeemed
Okay, but why should you trust me?
-
I have a paper saying I can do it. I'm part of the second graduating class of the Author Conservatory, where I received in-depth instruction in both writing and business. Basically, I got my "degree" in being an author. That's a thing now, apparently.
-
I have the attention span of a gnat. That means I write stories that would engage even me.
-
My characters feel like real people living in my head. Though mildly concerning to my therapist, this means they feel like real people on the page, too.
-
My brain runs like a 2005 Dell desktop. So while my fantasy worlds are fresh and unique, I have to keep them simple enough for me to understand, too.
-
I'm an optimistic realist. While my Christian faith gives me eternal hope, it also means I have no patience for platitudes that aren't true. My stories are honest about the darkness in the world, but just as honest about the hope that burns through it.
